We are currently seeking an Engineer to work in our Air Quality Engineering Group within the Environmental Engineering and Economics Division. Candidate will be an air quality professional and will provide technical program support for government and commercial clients including the U.S. EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS), Sector Policies and Programs Division (SPPD), and Climate Change Division (CCD). The successful candidate will report directly to a Staff Manager of the Air Quality Engineering group.
• Successful candidate will be expected to quickly assimilate and be able lead federal rule making projects within a short time frame.
• Lead federal air quality regulatory projects, including development of cost estimates, information collection requests, preamble language, regulatory text, response-to-comment documents, and other supporting documents.
• Develop emissions inventories for criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants, and greenhouse gases.
• Evaluate compliance with domestic and international environmental policies and regulations.
• Assess performance and costs of air pollution control equipment and emissions monitoring methods.
• Assist with business development initiatives.
• Perform research tasks of significant technical complexity, developing and implementing innovative and creative technical solutions to research problems, questions, and issues.
• Communicate with project teams of subcontractors, engineers, and technicians.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree and a minimum of 10 years related project experience.
• Candidate must have prior experience with federal regulatory development projects.
• Extensive experience developing air emissions estimates using emission factors, test data, and continuous emissions monitor data.
• Direct experience with the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (40 CFR Part 98), National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (40 CFR Part 63), New Source Performance Standards (40 CFR Part 60), National Ambient Air Quality Standards (40 CFR Part 50), or mobile source regulations (40 CFR Parts 79, 80, 85 through 94).
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills – proficiency with Microsoft Word required.
• Demonstrated spreadsheet and database skills – proficiency with Microsoft Excel required; Access and other database skills preferred.
• Flexibility to work independently or collaboratively as part of a project team.
• To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

• Direct experience with any of the following industries is preferred: forest products, pulp and paper, oil and gas, electric utility, and transportation.
