Job Description:

You will be a key member of Carrier’s Central Research and Development (CRD) organization, whose mission is to provide innovative technology solutions serving the company’s global product portfolio. As part of the Heat Transfer Group, you will be responsible for developing advanced heat exchanger designs and simulation tools. You will collaborate with other CRD technology experts, product design groups, supply chain partners, research universities, and external consortia to pursue new opportunities for the next generation of Carrier products. This assignment will include a blend of applied research and product integration.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Plan and supervise laboratory testing to characterize performance of enhanced heat transfer surfaces.
• Apply engineering software such as MATLAB or EES for data reduction and heat transfer analysis.
• Apply advanced design and simulation tools to optimize heat exchanger performance at component and system levels.
• Support continuous improvement in the methods and tools used to test and design heat exchangers.
• Identify and pursue innovation opportunities that improve the efficiency, sustainability, cost, reliability, and overall competitiveness of Carrier products.
• Manage technology development programs following a staged TRL process.
• Lend expertise to cross-functional product development teams to ensure successful application of new heat exchanger design concepts in Carrier products.

Requirements:

• Strong interest and background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
• Ability to apply theory to understand and interpret test results
• Experience with experimental methods, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data reduction
• Proficiency with engineering analysis software such as MATLAB, EES, LabView, and ANSYS.
• Experience in the design and application of heat exchangers
• Interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Comfortable with both collaborative and independent work assignments
• Innovation mindset
• Prior knowledge of HVAC fundamentals is a plus

Education:

MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in thermal science.

BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of direct experience in HVAC or other heat transfer field
