The project focuses on developing computational approaches to study the influence of the human microbiome on inflammatory bowel disease. The CHOP Microbiome Center collaborates with a number of researchers in this area, and must develop new analysis methods to take advantage of data from shotgun metagenomic DNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomics. We envision that this project will be devoted to both computational methods development and application of new methods in collaborative research projects.
The candidate should have experience with analysis of metagenomic DNA sequencing data, and should also be familiar with bioinformatic and statistical approaches relevant to the human microbiome. Furthermore, the candidate should be able to develop reliable and maintainable software with standard approaches such as unit testing, version control, and continuous integration.
The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with the PennCHOP Microbiome Program (https://pennchopmicrobiome.chop.edu/). Salary will be commensurate with experience and follow NIH salary guidelines. A minimum of a two year commitment is requested.
