Provides day-to-day management and technical leadership of reliability efforts for NASA projects including payloads, launch vehicles, and ground support equipment. Directs the multi-contractor staff consisting of reliability engineers and administrative support personnel. Establishes operating guidelines and management lines of communication. Maintains overall knowledge of NASA Reliability Policy and ensures customer satisfaction by responding to customer requirements encompassing these engineering disciplines. Responsible for properly identifying customer problems and issues, researching program requirements, and determining the most effective solution and use of staffing resources given technical qualifications and contractual requirements. Interacts regularly with customer representatives concerning work in progress, as well as new business development. Prepares employee performance evaluations and merit increases to include promotions, Monitors and approves employee timecards weekly. Monitors and approves vacation and leave. Conducts staff meetings as required. Interprets, organizes and performs complex, highly technical, state-of-the-art tasks; making decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and having significant impact on tasks and activities. Interfaces regularly at all levels, keeping management informed of task status, discussing newly proposed tasks, and making presentations. Prepares product reliability plans, establishes requirements for and monitors reliability programs; participates in system requirements and design teams, establishes reliability models and uses the models for systems and subsystem analysis; performs and/or reviews reliability analysis; develops reliability trade-off studies, assesses system assembly performance with respect to requirements, evaluates the effectiveness of the failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system elements and prepares reports.
10 or more years of reliability engineering experience.
BS in Engineering or major science (i.e., math or physics); MS in Engineering desired
