3D Systems is the originator and world leader in 3D printing. We are building a highly motivated and talented engineering team for product development and advanced research in San Diego. Our new technology will establish the benchmark for speed, quality, and reliability for 3D printers. This is a fast-paced, high energy, and very collaborative environment – great teamwork is a must. We need a reliability engineer ready to accept the challenge to develop and drive our reliability strategy, targets, models, and then execute testing plans and establish the reliability foundation to thrill and delight our customers. This person will work closely with our mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, print process, chemists, and opto-mechanical engineers.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Work with internal teams to establish, measure and maintain reliability budgets, models, dashboards, identify priorities, root cause analysis, issue resolution.
Work with product management, service organization, and engineering to establish reliability goals
Establish and lead reliability testing team and associated infrastructure
Act as the focal point for communicating customer reliability concerns and issues within the organization
Train, develop, and coach internal resources and key suppliers
Lead teams in various complex technical problem solving journeys across our product portfolio
Develop tools, fixtures, and circuitry where required to fully understand problems and drive them out of our products
Champion reliability tests for electronics (e.g. HALT, Thermals, Voltage Margins, etc.) to understand reliability margins and problems that are needed to achieve and overall PCA robustness goals.
Drive reliability learnings and concepts back in to the design and manufacturing communities to assure they become part of our culture
Develop problem solving and failure analysis capability specific to our products and materials
Some travel required
Education and Training
BS degree in Engineering or Science
At least 5 years as a reliability lead engineer and experience with reliability models and budgets
Experience in Complex Problem Solving Techniques
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Reliability reports, dashboards, trend reporting
Excellent written and verbal skills
Weibull++ / Reliasoft Suite or equivalent
Leading cross-site and cross-function task force to resolve issues
Hands-on approach to testing and issue resolution
Data collection, cataloging, and making available for usage
Root Cause Analysis tools and Corrective Action Systems
Advanced quality and reliability planning tools (flowcharts, FMEA’s, control plans)
Statistical methods (Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control SPC, etc)
Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Auditing, Corrective Action Systems
MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
