Selective Insurance is looking for a highly motivated Release Train Engineer (RTE) to provide leadership and coaching for our teams using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). This individual coordinates and facilitates all of the Agile Release Train (ART) events, run the Program Increment (PI) Planning Event, and acts as the next level escalation for obstacles reported by the individual Development Teams. The RTE works with the Program Team to escalate issues related to delivery of features owned within the release train which cannot be resolved within the release trains or in collaboration in cross-train Scrum of Scrums.


• Program-level planning, execution and continuous improvement

• Work with Scrum Masters to estimate and refine all work adhering to Agile Best Practices

• Remove and manage impediments impacting development teams

• Responsible for delivering technology solutions committed by Development Teams for each PI and Sprint

• Coordinate with the support team to validate release, prepare for code deployment, package the product, and deliver to production or market

• Establish cadence and facilitate ART level ceremonies such as the PI Planning, System Demo, Scrum of Scrums, PI Inspect & Adapt and PO Sync

• Assists Product Manager with planning, change management and program backlog maintenance

• Manage Release Train level issues, risks and dependencies

• Responsible for ensuring the Scrum Teams adhere to Lean/Agile values, practices, tools and rules

• Escalate risks and issues needing management attention via refinement sessions or to the Program Team

• Manage dependencies between Development Teams within release train and across release trains

• Partners with Delivery Lead and Resource Managers to make staffing decisions

• Develop program release communication plan

• Delivers release communication(s)

• Schedules and facilitates program release planning activities

• Gather and report performance information (ex., Release burn down data)

• Update and communicate ART Release Plans

• Actively tracks and manage execution against program release goals

• Continuous communication with product owners

• Supports communication of changing program priorities to teams

• Manage program status communication to ensure transparency on program status

• Communicate relevant information to all team members

• Gain stakeholder acceptance of completed features

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science, Business Administration or related field

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with 4+ years of experience in coaching and mentoring Agile skills, the Scrum Framework, Scrum of Scrums leadership and working in SAFe

• SAFe SASM, CSP, PSC or other advanced Agile certification

• PMP or PMI-ACP preferred

• Successful track record with agile methodologies

• Has been accountable for delivery of projects at least $1 million
