Position Description

As a member of the Logistics Health Incorporated (LHI) IT Operations support team, ensure client satisfaction through quality service delivery by anticipating stakeholder needs and proactively coordinating to meet them.

The Release Engineer (RE) will own the IT Change and Release Management process and lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of changes and releases for the OptumServe applications across various portfolios. You will perform a critical role in enforcing processes and procedures to ensure quality changes and releases to multiple environments including production. The Release Engineer will plan and coordinate releases, provide governance, oversight and release guidance through the software development lifecycle. The Release Engineer will perform administration of the change and release management tools and flows and will be instrumental in supporting LHI’s agile development methodology and infrastructure builds. The Release Engineer Job function works collaboratively with all participants in software development and infrastructure projects and is supportive of developers, engineers and testers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain release content and gain approval for release schedules

  • Establish change windows and facilitate change approvals

  • Execute release and change management processes and provide governance to ensure compliance. Provide input into Release and Change Management policies

  • Implement a stakeholder process which provides input to and approvals for emergency and scheduled changes, and toprioritize and assess the impact of all submitted change requests eligible for a production release

  • Analyzes change and release requests to ensures they meet the defined acceptance criteria and communicate the changes to respective stakeholders

  • Execute on processes to promote deliverables to multiple environments including production and ensure complete release notes are distributed with content, status and results of each release

  • Conduct readiness reviews and coordinate release activities with other teams to ensure a smooth and trouble-free roll out ofreleases

  • Develop release strategies, playbooks, KPI’s, track release metrics, and prepare monthly report for leadership

  • Lead deployments through the production change management process

  • Direct non-production and production deployments with members of other teams

  • Lead initiatives to improve the build and deployment process, making recommendations to improve quality, reporting, and reduce deployment time

  • Perform audits on environments to confirm deployments completed successfully

  • Analyze new projects and initiatives and assess environment readiness to support their collective development. Recommend necessary changes to the environments

  • Support end to end (integration) activities and planning

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer or business-related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience with government or private-sector with Release and Change Management using automated processing
  • 3+ years of experience with automation tools such as Jenkins or similar tools
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • 3+ years of experience providing executive status and progress communications to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National Career Readiness Certificate
  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Understanding of existing LHI technology and business operations
  • Prior experience with LHI, UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare and/or Optum
  • Excellent communication (interpersonal, internal and external stakeholders), technical and analysis skills
  • Experience driving process improvement
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging technology to meet business objectives
  • Results oriented with a high level of emotional intelligence, strong communication and interpersonal skills, outstanding collaboration, strong influence and consensus building
  • Knowledge of ITIL standards and Change Management best practices
  • Knowledgeable in various tools relating to the Management of Incident, Change, Problem, Knowledge Management and reports
