JOB SUMMARY: Under general direction responsible for the safe and effective provision of rehabilitation services at ANTHC. Provides administrative leadership to the rehabilitation staff and represents the department with physicians, administration and the public.
Through the development of a strategic plan, the, guides the department to meet the goals of their patients, the mission of the medical center while meeting all state, federal and regulatory body requirements. Reports to the Vice President, Professional and Support Services.
Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to assigned staff. Develops goals and priorities in conjunction with employees, and assigns tasks and projects. Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains, and coaches subordinate staff. Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations.
Represents the Rehabilitation Services Department to other departments and medical staff.
Develops, updates and maintains a departmental policy and procedures manual.
Insures that staff competencies are developed, updated, and reviewed yearly.
Creates lines of communication with departmental staff through meetings, correspondence and other means found to be effective.
Develops and maintains a performance improvement program for the department and use the data to improve care.
Provides resources for staff professional growth.
Maintains the departmental readiness for outside regulatory agency visits.
Develops and promotes new programming.
Responsible for the hiring and disciplinary action of all departmental staff.
Assists and supports ANTHC leadership in developing current and long-range ANTHC goals and objectives, and in the achievement of those goals and objectives.
Develops, manages and monitors project budgets and contracts. Completes internal and external written and oral reports professionally and in a timely manner. Coordinates with ANTHC Finance department to insure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting deadlines.
Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Master’s degree in physical therapy from a program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory - Five (5) years clinical experience.
Supervisory - Two (2) years supervisory/administrative experience.
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
Current Alaska license to practice physical therapy.
Current Basic Life Support card required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Doctoral degree in physical therapy from a program recognized by CAPTE.

Must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds.
ANMC is not a latex free facility; an employee should expect to work in an environment where latex may be present.
Travels frequently within Alaska in small fixed wing aircraft; travels outside Alaska.
May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.
