The Regional Operations Director, Supportive Care will be a leader for the northeast region of Optum Supportive Care business. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with national leadership to effectively develop strategic goals and turn those goals into specific operating and business plans that are executed at the regional level
  • Provide leadership, direction, and skill development to direct reports (i.e. Clinical Services Managers, Palliative Care Physicians and administrative staff).  Ensure appropriate prioritization of initiatives and good personnel management
  • Drive the expansion of Supportive Care business into new markets and deeper engagement within existing markets in the region to improve business performance
  • Develop the appropriate product, marketing, clinical, and operating strategies to maximize revenue and profit of Supportive Care
  • Develop marketing plans to enhance company and product awareness, direct the team to focus on maximizing clinically appropriate enrollments, optimize the service area, and develop collaborative relationships with key internal and external partners
  • Through the local clinical teams, and with the collaboration with national leadership, provide for the appropriate coordination and delivery of Supportive Care services within the contractual health plan requirements
  • Establish and maintain on-going relationships with key health plans, hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospices, home health agencies, Area Aging Agencies, and other pertinent providers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships within the community, including providers, business partners, and community alliances, etc.
  • Manage client relationships, including performance reporting, in collaboration with national leadership and healthcare economics, and the development and implementation of strategic partnerships for growth initiatives
  • Promote a positive image of OptumCare Supportive Care with local providers, state regulators, and customers
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
  • Work with operations reporting and healthcare economics teams to understand clinical and operational outcomes, medical expense drivers and create plans to reduce waste and increase the affordability of our products
  • In collaboration with national leadership, serve as a regional leader for improving serious illness care across the enterprise

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 yeardegreerequired, Advanced degreepreferred (Business administration, Health care administration preferred

  • 10+ years clinical operationsexperience including some work with Medicare aged population

  • Strong knowledge of the Northeast region- specifically New York, New Jersey and Connecticut markets and sound relationships with health system

  • 2+ years of experienceworking with health plans

  • Previous P&L or substantial budgetary experience

  • Experience in strategic planning and development

  • 5+ years leadership experience including program execution and staff management

  • Proven leadership skills in both internal and external environments

  • Experience launching or implementing a new program / product or new market expansion

  • Demonstrated ability to execute on short and long term growth and profitability targets

  • Managed careexperience highly preferred

  • Regional level management experience highly preferred

  • Previous hospital, palliative care, hospice or other clinical executive leadership experience highly preferred
