POSITION TITLE:

RN- Staff Nurse – Emergency Department

JOB SUMMARY:

A staff registered nurse is a expert registered nurse who directs and/or gives nursing care, in the Emergency branch, for patients with chronic, acute and/or terminal ailments. The RN can be liable for triaging sufferers to determine precedence of care primarily based on bodily and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing affected person glide through the branch.

Communicates with ED provider regarding adjustments in affected person’s fame, signs and symptoms and end result of diagnostic studies. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing

Currently licensed to practice as a professional registered nurse in the state of Missouri.

This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.

Current BLS required

Current ACLS required

Current TNCC, ENPC, or PALS recommended

Maintains regular and predictable attendance

RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Emergency Services. Also reports clinically during designated shifts to the Charge Nurse.

CORE DEPARTMENTAL COMPETENCIES--

Demonstrates appropriate assessment and knowledge of critically ill patients.

Demonstrates ability to assist providers with procedures such as but not limited to: conscious sedation, central lines, rapid sequence intubation etc.

Implements patient care according to planned interventions to attain

the patient’s optimal level of function and documents according to policy.

Demonstrates positive customer service relations

Routinely participates in QI projects and encourages department to continuously improve

Assists co-workers as needed/requested

Supports the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively
