REGISTERED NURSES - CRITICAL CARE Jamaica Hospital is home to multiple state-of-the-art Intensive Care Units (ICUs) that provide the highest level of critical care. These units include:
Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU): Specializing in the care of critically ill patients who require or have undergone surgery.
Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU): Focused on the medical management of critically ill patients who do not require surgery.
Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CCU): Dedicated to patients with severe cardiac conditions such as dysrhythmias, unstable angina, or heart attacks.
Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU): Providing long-term medical care for patients requiring continuous monitoring and support.
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for full-time flex day and night shifts in our MICU, CICU and SICU units.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing intensive, around-the-clock care to critically ill patients. This includes monitoring vital signs, administering medications, managing life-support equipment, responding to medical emergencies, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Utilizing advanced medical equipment to continuously monitor patient vital signgs.
- Administering complex medications, including high-dose or titrated medications
- Operating and adjusting ventilators, dialysis machines, and other critical life-support systems.
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and take immediate action when necessary.
- Responding swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies such as cardiac or respiratory arrest.
- Maintaining clear, professional communication with physicians, healthcare teams, and patient families to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Managing complex wound care for critically ill patients.

Requirements - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- Completion of a Critical Care Course and Certification.
- Current Active New York State RN License and Registration
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN exam.
- Must have At least one year of acute care RN experience in an ICU or two years in a Stepdown unit.
- Prior critical care experience required.CERTIFICATIONS:
CERTIFICATIONS: - Basic Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (American Heart Association).
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) Certification preferred.
COMPENSATION:
Salary: $53.18 per hour. Plus, full 1199 Union Benefits
