Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership for the assigned Sales region by creating strategies that position the business to more effectively deliver on Accelerating value and the business growth objectives
  • Collaborate with  key partners; namely underwriting, account management/service, and market strategy and finance leaders to achieve the proper balance between sales growth and earnings growth within marketplace earnings targets
  • Proactively engage across organizational boundaries with product, marketing, finance and operations leadership to incorporate a holistic view in local business plans.  Operate with a global mindset that positively impacts the region’s business results
  • Recruit, motivate, develop and retain a diverse sales leadership and sales professional organization within an ever-changing marketplace. Ensure ongoing growth and development of team and organizational bench strength. Conduct training and monitor compliance
  • Develop, implement and monitor strategic business plan focused on developing maximum efficiency from sales resources (as well as resources in other functional groups) to achieve appropriate ROI
  • Drive new sales and renewals of group and voluntary products in the under 4,999 marketplace, by developing and managing a professional sales force
  • Maintain strong marketplace presence and relationships with key decision makers and brokers, and support a customer centric environment
  • Create a business management and account planning driven culture and ensure a full adoption of systems and technology (e.g. SFDC) to drive and manage sales
  • Drive cultural alignment to sales strategies such as customer and broker segmentation
  • Reinforce the MetLife value proposition in market while growing customer and broker relationships


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 15 years of relevant experience, ideally including group insurance background
  • Strong relationship management capabilities in support of Customer/Broker Consultant relationships, etc.
  • Strong business acumen, proven ability to act strategically, make decisions, and build partnerships and teams
  • Presence with external network as industry expert / thought leader
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in Sales Leadership developing and coaching a strong sales organization
  • Proven record of strong revenue & earnings results
  • Proven ability to impact and influence in a complex and matrixed organization 
  • Financial experience – managing budget, underwriting, analyzing financial performance
  • Broad understanding of the Employee Benefit landscape in the lower & upper end of the market place
  • Strong skills and solid background in leading cultural change in an evolving environment
  • BA degree and series 6,63 & 26 licenses
