Job Summary:

The Regional Sanitation Manager is responsible for developing and directing the Sanitation program, and for ensuring that all current Food Safety Standards are being met within assigned region. The Regional Sanitation Manager will direct training and development of sanitation managers to be able to identify and correct GMP issues and to enforce all current food safety standards. The Regional Sanitation Manager will be responsible for communicating key sanitation concerns and KPI's with the Regional Quality and Foods Safety Director, Plant Manager, Quality Manager, Sanitation Manager, and all Sanitation staff at plant facilities within assigned region.

Job Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages the development of and maintenance of Sanitation programs (HACCP, Allergen) for a variety of products for compliance with customer specification and regulation requirements
  • Provides guidance for consumer complaint issues and assists plant teams to reduce and/ or eliminate root causes of complaints within region
  • Shares best practices and sponsors standardization with other Regional Sanitation Mangers
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationship with Plant Managers and Quality and/or Sanitation Managers
  • Work with the Plant Quality personnel in identifying sanitation or regulatory opportunities at each facility within assigned region
  • Provides constant training and guidance to ensure HFS is always customer and/or third party audit ready
  • Manages policy, procedures and all supporting documentation to ensure HFS and Customer standards are achieved all plants within assigned region
  • Provides an atmosphere that allows for the development of supervisors and managers
  • Manages and communicates the Master Sanitation Schedule for all facilities within assigned region
  • Leads FIT teams and HPS to ensure continuous improvement in sanitation practices is achieved
  • Assist in controlling and maintaining sanitation budgets within assigned region
  • Manages and approves chemical suppliers and chemical control programs within assigned region, including concentration test protocol for sanitation chemicals used
  • Manages, communicates and trains OSHA safety requirements pertaining to all sanitation practices within assigned region. Ensures that all chemicals used in facilities are approved for such use and that all chemicals have current MSDS information at each site
  • Develops and trains Sanitation Managers in all steps of each plant clean-up
  • Oversees pest control and allergen control programs within assigned region. Maintains allergen matrix
  • Ensures allergen validations are conducted, with proper documentation to confirm allergen cleans associated with customer expectations
  • Communicates with customer peers to ensure adequate and accurate allergen matrixes.
  • Manages special projects as assigned

Required Competencies & Knowledge:

Experience in:

  • Master Sanitation and other requirements for food industry
  • Proven knowledge pertaining to FDA and local state health departments regulations
  • Proven knowledge in GMP's, FSMA, HACCP, allergen control and GFSI code
  • Proven knowledge of standard principles of sanitary design
  • Proven knowledge of allergens and allergen validation practices
  • Through knowledge pertaining to commercial bakeries and bakery and other food manufacturing equipment, as well as the functionality of ingredients in the manufacturing process and how it relates development and proper cleaning techniques

Skill in:

  • Good record keeping, as well as, developing and maintaining programs and handling onflict with positive and practical approach and attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer literate, self-motivated and ble to make sound business decisions
  • Excellent supervisory and people skills required

Ability to:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strength and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Make sound business decisions

Proficiency in:

MS Office Suite, Excel, and Power Point (SAP a plus)

Work Environment:

  • Production environment exposure which includes noise, dust, moving machinery, fork lifts, and fluctuations in temperature
  • Able to stand and work in a fast paced manufacturing environment for up to hours at a time

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in sanitation or Quality fields; Masters Degree a plus
  • 5 plus years experience in food industry with at least 3 years supervising people
  • Travel requirements of up to 25% and as required to mitigate Adverse Events as assigned
