Regional Milling Project Manager
This is an exempt level position.

Position Summary:

The Milling Project Manager will manage design, construction, and implementation of projects and alterations to existing processes with the assistance of internal and external design teams. The Project Manager will field inquiries regarding equipment and building requirements for potential projects, and examine key financial metrics as they relate to the projects being studied. The Project Manager will create project fund requests and submit with proper documentation. Candidates should expect to interact with many disciplines during project phases, including contractor management, structural and civil designers, mechanical designers, environmental engineering, electrical and instrument engineering, safety professionals, insurance professionals, and construction managers.
This position requires travel of up to 50% away from the base location and may include international travel. This position will report to the Milling Director of Projects and Construction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide status updates to Operational and Commercial Management
  • Assist with startup activities, as well as with financial justification during project close-out and follow up
  • Manage day-to-day project decisions, as well as project planning with limited supervision from department and plant management
  • Manage multiple project budgets and schedules and update regularly
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and disputes with contractors and vendors
  • Responsible for leadership, including coaching, mentoring, performance management and colleague development
  • Management of priorities with a focus on continuous improvement, organization and planning, openness in communicating, consistency and fairness, professionalism, flexibility, results orientation and strategic thinking
  • Milling projects require an understanding in many areas including: Grain/Bulk Material Handling and Storage, Flour Milling Process and associated equipment, Pneumatic Filters and Pneumatic conveyance, Commercial Buildings, and Truck/Rail transportation
  • Identify Operational efficiency opportunities on site visits; establish mutual follow up plans with plant management
  • Mentor colleagues to improve the understanding of flow, operations and controls
  • Understand and enhance current Milling procedures relating to yield, capacity, downtime, and sanitation improvements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Technical Systems Management, or equivalent, and a minimum of five years’ experience managing capital projects in the agricultural, industrial, pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, renewable fuels, or petrochemical sectors
  • Preferred experience Computer Aided Design software and familiarity with accounting and finance principles.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in Plant operations.
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice principles and Behavioral Based Safety programs preferred

Must have the ability to climb stairs, some lifting, sitting and standing for long periods, working with heights, bending, kneeling and respirator qualification is also required. The candidate must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions including hot and cold, indoors and outdoors.
