The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for assisting with the coordination, oversight, and reporting associated with region-wide operations and programs.

  • In coordination with the Area Operations Managers and the Director of Operations, manage the delivery and evaluation of USO programs, services, activities, entertainment tours and events within the assigned region.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Operations, develop, document and maintain standard operating procedures, plans and reference materials for regional operations and programs. Prepare, review and present reports and briefings including but not limited to operational, program, financial, statistical, development and after-action.*
  • Conduct periodic review of USO program and service needs within assigned region. Research and recommend new programs and services based on results. Implement and oversee suggested and/or required changes.*
  • Manage volunteer tracking system data and region-wide volunteer and employee recognition programs. Provide advice and guidance on best practices, materials, policies and procedures related to the day-to-day management of a volunteer workforce.*
  • Coordinate with regional media outlets including but not limited to online, print and broadcast, informing and ensuring appropriate coverage of programs and events. Monitor and assist with social media messaging and content, websites, OneUSO and region-wide adherence to branding guidelines.*
  • In cooperation with and as requested by Director of Operations, develop, improve and maintain working relationships with US Military, local business, and community leadership to foster public awareness of USO programs and services.
  • Support procurement of financial and other in-kind resources necessary for operational and program delivery across assigned region. Assist with monitoring and management of financial activities including but not limited to creation and execution of budget, tracking and receipt of grants and other income.
  • Perform assigned duties in the absence of Director of Operations and other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications - minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors necessary to perform the job successfully. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.


• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related field.

• 5 years work experience, including at least 2 in an operations role. Relevant experience managing outreach programs in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams. Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.

• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.

• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.

• Working knowledge of basic business and accounting functions including project management and budgeting.

• Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.

• Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. Working knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver's license.
