Job Description

The Regional Asset Protection Manager will lead their region in Shrink Reduction, Asset Protection and Safety efforts through an in-depth understanding of the overall business, effective partnerships and by directing the region with integrity and professionalism. 

This position will supervise up to eighteen (18) associates in accordance with Weis Markets, Inc. policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include selecting, training, evaluating associate performance and addressing concerns.  Direct reports may include:  District Asset Protection Managers (6), indirect reports may include: Organized Retail Crime Investigators (12).


  • Complete store visits to reinforce Asset Protection policies, procedures and compliance to company standards.

  • Partner with the Regional Vice President to help achieve company shrink and safety goals and objectives.

  • Foster a culture of profitable selling through training and leadership.

  • Review and evaluate store inventory results and initiate appropriate actions to reduce shrink and increase sales.

  • Identify ongoing Asset Protection needs and provide recommended actions and resources.

  • Use of the exception based reporting system to identify dishonesty and shortage opportunities.

  • Manage dishonest associate related investigations and interviews.

  • Act as a liaison between Weis Markets and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

  • Professionally represent Weis Markets in court hearings and mediations.

  • Analyze and evaluate people and situations and provide direction to impact performance.

  • Hire, Train and Develop District Asset Protection Managers.

  • Assist in developing policies, procedures and best practices.

  • Enforce policies and procedures in a professional and impactful manner through consistent accountability practices.

  • Effectively manage time and scheduling to best suit the company’s needs.

  • Drive the company safety program in partnership with region, district and store leadership.

  • Orchestrate key public safety functions and physical security standards for all new store openings, remodels and special events.

  • Responsible for key P&L categories relating to asset protection and expense control.

  • Conduct detailed P&L reviews with the Regional Vice President and use financial data to achieve and measure results.

  • Manage all aspects of physical security within the region.

  • Oversee the contracted security guard program.

  • Provide leadership and direction for critical incidents.

  • Ensure the asset protection audit program is generating desired behaviors and results within the region.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, business administration, or related field and eight (8) years of experience in asset protection/loss prevention, physical security, or related field; or a combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Superior analytical ability to develop and interpret statistical data.

  • Intense focus on detail and accuracy of work.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to live the mission and values of Weis Markets:Teamwork, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Passion.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work on sensitive assignments and handle confidential information appropriately.

  • Wicklander / Zulawski certification.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight as needed.

  • Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) / Certified Protection Professional (CPP) / Physical Security Professional (PSP) preferred.
