The Regional Operations Director has shared responsibility while working with the Business Groups for the growth, profitability, management, and overall vision for multiple Areas in the Northeast (US) region of HDR, which employs over 1,500+ professional staff. The geography covered for this role currently includes: The New England States, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. With HDR company values as the guidepost, you will help establish the HDR tone and culture for all locations within the Region and ensure implementation of the business unit operating plan while maximizing revenue and profitability. Through leveraging your excellent collaboration, communication and organizational skills, you will also be expected to partner with key leaders across HDR to direct, identify and develop new projects and market sectors, while continuing to grow our presence in the existing sectors within the region. Additional duties will include:
Help develop and then lead business group initiatives for the region, share effective implementation of business group initiatives.
Collaborate in the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective regional business group program, including business development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, production methods and standards, all within established goals and objectives of the company and business group.
Take shared responsibility with the Business Groups for profitability, control and direction of business units and cost centers in geographic regions to ensure operating plan is implemented to achieve maximum results.
Collaborate with business groups to direct development of new projects, markets, business classes, financial information, staffing requirements, and other related matters.
Establish business unit policies and adhere to corporate policies, risk management, project contract financial fee and budget information, and establish and maintain quality control processes and procedures.
Mentor business unit managers and key personnel within the region.
Supervise Area Managers and support Managing Principals in the Northeast region.
Possess signatory authority in the company.
Perform other leadership duties as needed
Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
15+ years previous management experience within the AEC industry
Must be willing to live in the defined Northeast region
Extensive experience in development and management of diverse teams
Demonstrated leadership, organizational and community involvement skills are a must.
Experienced with strategic planning and annual budgetary planning.
Ability to work cooperatively with regional directors, area managers, managing principals, technical directors and marketing managers.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Professional Architecture or Engineering registration preferred
