JOB SUMMARY: The Regional Supply Chain Operations Director is the primary point of contact for developing and implementing strategic vision and tactics associated to delivery of goods, services and equipment to their regional hospitals and its continuum-of-care entities. Position directs the activities, staff and budgets for supply chain within the region including multiple sites. Responsible to oversee daily activities for all logistics processes including transportation, internal distribution of supplies, management of inventory and product consumption. Represents region on supply chain related issues and serves as a subject matter expert for their region for Avera Health activities. Direct, participate and support both regional and system strategic initiatives in the areas of customer service improvement, cost reductions, process improvements, and other initiatives. This responsibility includes collaboratively working efficiently and effectively with all supply chain departments at Avera Health to ensure timely implementation of cost savings initiative as developed system-wide or for Region only activities. This director also monitors oversight of courier services with in the region, including service and cost.
The regional director has direct reporting responsibilities for the materials management departments for the regional hospitals with in their region and dotted line responsibility for the materials management departments at the critical access hospitals with in their region.
In respect to day to day operations in the region, this director will have an office at one of the hospitals with in the region and as such responsible for all site activities at that location, such as; shipping & receiving, internal distribution and customer service components of Materials Management. Responsibilities include organizing and directing all department functions and activities, supervising managers, supervisors and/or staff, establishing goals and objectives consistent with mission, values and social principles of the organization, and developing policies and procedures. The regional director will be accountable to interpret policies, standards and regulations to personnel, vendors, patients, medical staff and the public.
The regional director also serves as a consultant to the managed facilities throughout their Avera Health Region.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, hospital administration, finance or related field is required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 3-5 years relevant experience is required.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Certification in the purchasing profession from either the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management or the National Association of Purchasing Managers preferred.
- This position requires a valid driver's license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier.
