We are seeking a Refrigeration & Electrical Reliability Specialist, Power Distribution Group. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise, structural over site, and reliability program development for all refrigeration, HVAC, and low-voltage electrical systems on the Geismar site(s). This position provides expertise to support maintenance, operations, and capital project activities. Additionally, this position ensures a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools.

Refrigeration & Electrical Reliability Specialist – Power Distribution Group (1704345) – Geismar, LA

You will also assure proper maintenance & reliability programs exist and being followed per regulatory, BASF standards, and generally accepted engineering and maintenance practices.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Coordinate predictive and preventive maintenance activities of contract and third-party refrigeration and electricalworkforce.
  • Develop, manage, and review site refrigeration and HVAC maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Develop proposals and create processes for improving equipment reliability and minimizing cost.
  • Develop and/or modify Maintenance strategies that promote long-term reliability.
  • Review and authenticate test reports to ensure accuracy. Analyze test/inspection results and findings. Provide recommendations based upon test result findings and include repair recommendations. Enter notifications based exceptions found.
  • Maintain test/inspectiondatabase to include test results, rationale for testing frequency, and asset health.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment repair/ reliability, including emergency work reviews.
  • Provide technical support to third-party contractors, maintenance supervisors, and craftsmen on difficult repair activities and reliability alerts (e.g., Vibration, Ultrasound, Motor Circuit Analysis).
  • Implement and manage Motor Circuit Analysis program.
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
  • Define and ensure strategic spare parts are managed and maintained.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party maintenance contracts.
  • Oversee key equipment and technology upgrades (i.e., R22 replacement).
  • Develop/modify/upkeep Site Motor Specification

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • High School Diploma/equivalent and 12years of experience in refrigeration and electrical maintenance/reliabilityrequired; Associate’s degree combined with HVAC and Electricalexperiencepreferred.
  • A minimum of 5years of experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry.
  • Broad-based, hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of refrigeration, HVAC, and motor controls.
  • Knowledgeable in repair techniques and procedures for Refrigeration and Motor Controls.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in interpreting predictive test reports, database administration, data collection, analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Applied knowledge of predictive tools and techniques used to determine the health of refrigeration and electrical systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facts and figures along with the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate.


This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
