Job Overview

Working in our Commerce City refinery and reporting to the manager, production engineering, you will be responsible for providing technical support for our process units to ensure a safe workplace and protect the environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide routine performance monitoring of process units and recommend improvements to procedures and operating guidelines that will improve process unit performance and optimization
  • Monitor unit mass balances, catalyst activity trends, heat exchanger performance trends, yield trends and performance of advanced control loops
  • Provide leadership on initiatives that will improve the safety performance and environmental compliance
  • Provide process information to environmental department-related to exceedances, lead and participate in root cause analysis related to exceedances, recommend and implement process changes and projects to prevent repeat environmental events
  • Participate in and lead process safety management (PSM) activities such as hazard and operability studies, management of change, pre-start up-safety-review (PSSR), updating process safety information which includes process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings and equipment files
  • Optimize unit operations, which includes working with planning department to determine optimal operating plan, defining constraints and solving bottleneck issues
  • Participate and lead incident investigations, which includes completing root-cause analysis studies
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting support and turnaround support to the operations’
  • Communicate to all levels of the organization on items such as unit status, constraints or potential risks
  • Mentor and guide less experienced personnel as applicable

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five or more years of petroleum refinery or related working experience
  • Bachelordegree in Chemical Engineering
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
