Role Overview

This position is for a Recognized Research Engineering expert and thought leader. Represents the organization externally in research and science institutions and organizations. Makes recommendations to organization leadership impacting research and development strategies, leads intellectual property evaluations, and mentors mid-to-senior level engineers.

Specific responsibilities of this role include:

Nationally recognized technical expert in the field, who represents the organization externally in research and science institutions and organizations supporting the evaluation of new approaches to meet organizational objectives.

Innovates methods for fundamental or applied research, that requires highly advanced knowledge of a number of disciplines, in order to improve or generate new products, components, equipment, systems, and processes.

Makes recommendations to organization leadership on research and development strategies and directions.

Leads intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications for new or changed products and technologies.

Advises organizational leadership on technological evolutions leading to new or improved products or processes in local markets.

Mentors mid-to-senior level engineers and helps direct work and solve complex issues to enhance the capabilities of the team.

Conducts technology, product, and program research.

Prepares and completes experimental and developmental research engineering.

May relate to new or changed products and technologies.

Analyzes projects to develop changes to programs and processes to increase efficiency.

Evaluates new approaches to meet project objectives.

Education: Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience
