With nearly 7,000 people in 100 offices across the U.S., we partner with our clients to help communities prosper.  wsp.com   The Program The California High-Speed Rail program is the first ever high-speed rail system in the U.S.  It will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands.  By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.   The RoleWe have an immediate opportunity in our Fresno, CA Program Office for a Railroad Coordinator, responsible for performing, technical, administrative and engineering-related duties in support of the Infrastructure Delivery and Rail Operations and Delivery teams, reporting to the Railroad Coordination Team.  The principal duties of the Railroad Coordinator are as follows: 

  • Assist in coordinating construction on Railroad Right-of-Way, including track outages and work in accordance with the Railroad Capital Improvement Plan
  • Prepare scheduling and flagging matrices (Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Union Pacific Rail Road & San Joaquin Valley Rail Road), review data for accuracy and ensure timely completion
  • Assist with onsite verification to ensure compliance with requirements for working on railroad Right-of-Way
  • Review invoices from railroad operators for flagging and engineering services
  • Attend Pre-Construction meetings and coordination meetings as requested by the Authority or railroads
  • Develop spreadsheets and pivot tables to capture, analyze and present data
  • Prepare presentations on multi-disciplinary related topics
  • Prepare materials for reports and permit applications – gather information, create topical outlines, and prepare work progression documents and graphic presentations
  • Provide assistance with project schedules, estimates, engineering specifications, property ownership, rights of entry, procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and other support activities as needed to support the Regional Management Team
  • Execute a wide variety of general administrative duties supporting the CHSR Infrastructure Delivery, Rail and Operations Delivery, and the Senior Railroad Coordinator
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor



Job Requirements
The Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, E.I.T. preferred
  • At least five years of experience, preferably in an engineering environment
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Employment authorization to work in the United States immediately
