Job Description

The Radiation Physicist has direct influence on the Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Radiation Safety procedures used on patients. This professional implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates all aspects of radiation physics within the department as related to equipment, personnel, and patients. They will develop and direct quality assurance, perform radiation therapy, and radiographic procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients. Additionally, this position requires performance on calibration and quality assurance procedures on linearaccelerators, simulators, and high dose brachytherapy equipment. The ideal professional will also operate specialized X-ray equipment as prescribed by the physician, keep treatment records, prepare operationalreports asrequired, perform clinicalsupervision with physician/dosimetry/Sim tech/nursing/radiation therapist and other disciplines to coordinate care, and provide patient and/or family with information relative to treatment plan, diagnostic/surgical procedures, disease process and home care. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of CHRISTUS Health St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, and demonstrating behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in Medical Radiation Oncology Physics required
  • Board Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5years documented clinical experience in external beam therapy including electrons and conventional and HDR brachytherapy preferred
