R&D Manager at Spacesaver Corporation in Fort Atkinson, WI

JOB DESCRIPTION

Spacesaver is seeking an R&D Manager to join our Innovation Team!

Responsibilities;

• Responsible for managing all aspects of R&D from problem statement definition to final concept delivery
• Aid in the creation of an R&D department at Spacesaver which includes defining the R&D process, building an R&D lab and developing and leading an R&D team
• Collaborate with NPD, Product Management, Sales and Market Research to identify problem statements, brainstorm new product opportunities and manage the R&D project pipeline
• Explore new technologies, materials, coatings and finishes that have the potential to be integrated into Spacesaver’s products
• Act as the internal and external R&D champion and spokesperson
• Communicate updates on a regular basis to key stakeholders within the company
• Develop and design conceptual solutions that solve customer problems
• Responsible for annual planning, budgeting of the company’s R&D projects
• Explore intellectual property opportunities during concept generation
• Develop testing apparatus and procedures for new concepts

REQUIRED SKILLS

Qualifications;

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Research and Development role
• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline; Master’s in Engineering or Business preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, record keeping, follow-thru and problem solving skills
• Experienced in the R&D process and proven track record in leading teams to follow it
• Proven ability in developing and managing a budget
• Experienced in fabricating prototypes or proof of concepts
• Prior experience managing a team of engineers
• Experience with sheet metal manufacturing
