Job Description

  • Work with Microchip Business Units and Quality team members to define and implement a ‘Global’ methodology for New Firmware/Software Development
  • Integrate the New Firmware/Software Development process with Microchip’s New Products Development methodology
  • Organize and perform process compliance reviews and firmware/software conformance assessments
  • Conduct internal audits to measure and ensure adherence to established QA standards for software development
  • Conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System
  • Plan and guide external audits/assessments (3rd party and customer audits)
  • Develop/implement methods to understand and evaluate process risks and how to mitigate them
  • Drive related process improvements to methodology to support improvement to quality of outputs, cycle time and cost
  • Act as an interface for firmware topics to other functions within the organization
  • Providing  guidance on how Automotive SPICE integrates with other standards (ISO 26262 and IATF 16949)

Job Requirements

  • BSEE/BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering or ElectricalEngineeringPreferred (or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years software experience in embedded or Real Time Systems
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System standards (eg: ISO9001, ISO/TS-16949)

  • Possess a fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, interpersonal relationships, professional ethics, and legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Able to evaluate the impact of software quality management principles on business objectives and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of developing and implementing software quality programs, which include tracking, analyzing, reporting, problem resolution, process improvement, training, and supplier management. Must have a basic understanding of how and when to perform software audits including audit planning, approaches, types, analyses, reporting results and follow-up.

  • Experience in the field of software quality assurance/Software auditing
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies/processes, and one or more of the relevant standards and reference models (e.g. Automotive SPICE, CMMI, ISO 26262… or similar)
  • High assertiveness, good facilitation and communication skills
