CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

 

MUST-HAVES

 

  • Proficiency in Excel, Minitab, Access and PowerPoint
  • Lean/Six Sigma tools and manufacturing techniques experience
  • Expertise in ISO/TS type quality systems, APQP and PPAP methods is required.
  • Experience with consumer electronics, printed circuit board assembly, and structured NPD tollgate processes/tools.
  • 7-10+ years of quality/process engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of New Product Development experience. Greater than 5 years industrialexperience in which candidate had responsibility for the development and implementation of product and/or process quality.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The New Product Development (NPD) Quality Manager will play a critical leadership function in the NPD process and provide strategic quality direction for the product lifecycle management/improvement process. Key business partners for this role will be the product engineering team, manufacturing, and the supplier quality management team.

This position will report directly to the VP of Quality. No direct reports at this time, but due expect responsibilities to expand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership for quality activities associated with New Product Development and expand quality system tools and procedures to support NPD Tollgate Processes.
  • Set corporate new product quality metrics/goals for the organization, provide performance feedback and lead corrective action activities as needed. Track product lifecycle quality performance and identify design improvement opportunities for quality improvement to deliver improved warranty performance.
  • Define corporate quality system improvement strategies for New Product Development Processes and drive implementation.
  • Develop and implement key new product quality system elements and tools (QFD, FMEA, Design and Process Validation/reviews, APQP, PPAP, etc) to be incorporated into NPD Tollgate Process. Train and coach team on their use.
  • Provide quality leadership for Critical-To-Quality (CTQ) flowdown and specification development.
  • Provide quality leadership for validation test plan development and execution (design and process validation). Revise/expand reliability test protocols to better predict long term field performance.
  • Lead risk analysis activities for New Product Development programs and drive completion of appropriate mitigation.

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • 7-10+ years of quality/process engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of New Product Development experience. Greater than 5 years industrialexperience in which candidate had responsibility for the development and implementation of product and/or process quality.
  • The preferred candidate will have experience with consumer electronics, printed circuit board assembly, and structured NPD tollgate processes/tools. Expertise in ISO/TS type quality systems, APQP and PPAP methods is required.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated quality leadership and people management skills plus exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Candidate must be able to influence team dynamics regarding quality goals, deliver constructive feedback and provide quality leadership in a cross functional environment.
  • Candidate must have experience with CTQ development, validation planconstruction, risk analysis, reliability, design and process validation testing, stack up tolerance analysis, gauge design, control planconstruction and standard work development
  • Candidate must have solid understanding of statistical methods and their application to product or process engineering. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are a must. The candidate must have experience with typical quality gauges and instrumentation plus understand engineering drawings. Proficiency with Excel, Minitab, Access and - PowerPoint is expected.
  • The preferred candidate will have experience in Lean/Six Sigma tools and manufacturing techniques. CQE, CQM and/or Black Belt in Lean or Six Sigmapreferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or material science engineering. BS in Applied Sciences (math, chemistry, physics, etc.) may be considered depending on experience
