Quality/Lean Manager

Position Summary

Responsible for the design and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure thatquality standardsare met during production. Oversees testing of processes and products.

Essential to this Position

The Lean/Quality Manager is responsible for leading, developing and facilitating the Promotional Print Solutions’ continuous improvement activities using Lean Manufacturing methodologies, quality control methods, and plant and corporate strategies and policies that safely assure the most efficient production and delivery of high-quality products to customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality -

  • Manage and develop departmental staff including selection, orientation, training, succession planning, performance management, evaluation, coaching and discipline
  • Lead A3 problem solving strategy to continuously improve our folding carton and litho label products
  • Oversee the QMS and development of a documented quality system that complies with ISO 9000, AIB, FDA, cGMP and other applicable standards
  • Lead complaint investigation and resolution of quality issues to root cause with customers
  • Facilitate new product development efforts by designing a proactive system to identify potential quality issues prior to production, including coordinating team communication through product conceptualization to trial processes and sharing feedback among internal stakeholders
  • Facilitate process of both internal and external customer audits 
  • Prepare performance agreements and conduct quality assessments of all EA’s
  • Lead collaboration efforts with management to establish standard work in administrative and production areas
  • Champion the company Quality culture and vision throughout the Promotional Print Solutions

Lean –

  • Develop Promotional Print Solutions Lean vision and strategy and serve as complex champion Lean initiatives that deliver continuous improvement, culture transformation, waste reduction and/or cost savings
  • Serve as business Lean expert and proactively identify and assist in the implementation of business model changes to meet cost savings initiatives
  • Facilitate and coordinate selected Kaizen blitz activities throughout the organization
  • Lead and/or facilitate project teams through conflict resolution as needed
  • Serve as Team Leader for business Lean Steering Committee to assist leadership group to set and track specific improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure employees are engaged during the Lean journey
  • Collaborate with sales team to identify and work with customers that request continuous improvement expertise 
  • Track and report key metrics on lean activities throughout Promotional Print Solutions
  • Provide Lean employee training and facilitate correct use of Lean tools throughout the organization
  • Lead or facilitate all project or kaizen action plan timelines and closure
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for the development of lean facilitators and leaders

Essentials to Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, business management or related degreerequired. Advanced degreepreferred
  • Advanced Training/Certification as Lean Facilitator required; Six Sigma credentials preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ prior Lean facilitation experiencerequired, preferably in manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, AIB, FDA, cGMP and other applicable quality standards
  • Packaging/printing industry knowledge preferred
  • Strong business strong business acumen and mathematical/financial analysis
  • Exceptional facilitation, communication and change management skill
