The Quality Improvement Black Belt successfully delivers Improvement Projects, based on need, between individually driven, and/or leading cross-functional teams of varying experience levels. The initial focus will be on Gardner's Cryogenics Quality Control processes, with the goal of improving product consistency. The scope of the Black Belt role expands over time, contingent upon business needs.
Gardner Cryogenics is a world leader in liquid helium and liquid hydrogen storage and transportation equipment, currently operating under sold-out conditions. Reduction in quality defects and reduction in customer complaints is essential to long-term business stability while maintaining throughput. The Gardner and Rotoflow businesses are growing significantly in product portfolio and geography, and require robust, mistake-proofed processes to ensure success and maintain brand position.
This Black Belt leads projects using structured problem solving, and data-motivated decision-making tied to measurable business outcomes. He/she will display the highest leadership in motivating, energizing, and executing change initiatives. This includes leading cross-functional project teams and pursuing a variety of technically sophisticated and/or culturally complex problem statements. Serving as a change agent and advocate for improvement methodology and culture, and an understanding of the line of sight to increased business profitability. The candidate is expected to use Emotional Intelligence competencies to influence, collaborate, and build strong relationships across the organization.
The candidate will challenge the status quo when appropriate while bringing the existing organizational strengths to bear. He/she will demonstrate proven improvement strategies supported by statistical difficulty and/or lean methodologies.
The nature and scope of this role require an experienced level of influence and interpersonal skills in order to achieve successful outcomes by utilizing a communication style and a successful work track record with all organization individuals and company leadership. Excellent organization skills, while working with little oversite driving continuous improvement goals and objectives to successful completion. Strategic and tactical business priorities require close alignment as well as maintaining that same alignment with the Gardner/Rotoflow Senior Master Black Belt. He/she will report directly to the Quality and Planning Manager.
