The Quality Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain system requirements in assigned areas of quality planning, control and improvement. Areas of responsibility include: process controls, in-process quality control, supplier management, process validation, calibration systems and Corrective and Preventive Actions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
? Develop quality validation and control plans
? Maintain and improve existing quality systems processes including new part approval process and validation (including First Article Inspection), control plans and associated documentation.
? Develop supplier and materials risk assessment tools for new supplier and material approvals. Audit on-site suppliers as needed.
? Participate in root cause analysis and process improvements to prevent recurrence.
? Manage activities to ensure supplier quality compliance and provide data to for supplier scorecards.
? Participate in the quality auditing program
? Drive improvement of products and processes through management of quality projects as assigned.
? Drive quality and yield improvement initiatives.
? Actively participate in production readiness activities, ensuring that design drawings include pertinent quality standards and quality risks are appropriately assessed and mitigated in the control plan.
? Provide training on quality plans, processes and inspection techniques to team members.
? Monitor quality indicators to make sure the controls in place are effective to maximize internal and external yields
Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:
? Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering.
? Minimum 5 years relevant experience, preferably in low volume/high mix production environment. Experience in high speed rotating equipment and power conversion equipment a plus.
? ASQ Certified Quality Engineerpreferred
? Experience and familiarity with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality systems.
? Broad knowledge of quality and manufacturing processes, methods and controls.
? Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, Kaizen and other process improvement tools.
? Proficiency in GD&T associated with tight tolerance, precision, high complexity machined parts and components.
? Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
? Good written and oral communication skills are required.
? Ability to work both independently and as a strong team player is a requirement.
? Knowledge in metrology using both hand tools and CMM type equipment
