A mid-level management position in the Quality Assurance (QA) Department of Lyons Magnus, an international food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. Your experience should include but not limited to quality assurance of food products, accuracy of formulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines. 

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 5:00PM-4:00AM Some weekends depending on departmental needs. 

 

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all line operators to ensure that batches are prepared as described in the formulas, proper pressures/temperatures/cook, fill times are achieved, and product is manufactured within operating parameters
  • Perform all QA functions for nightshift, such as batch adjustments for all processing lines. This will include brix, viscosity, pH, T.A and any other analytical analysis as required by a customer or formula.
  • Ensure that proper/clean changeovers are achieved between products.
  • Ensure that process control checklists, as developed by Process Control Manager, are filled out completely by all operators (including, but not limited to sterilization check lists, in-process checklists, packaging checklists, etc)
  • Review all deviations from operating parameters with production personnel and Process Control Manager.
  • Review quality of all rework added with appropriate Product Development Director and Process Control (PC) Manager. Ensure that appropriate level of addition is achieved.
  • Identify out-of-specification product as rework and fill out appropriate Quality Alert Notices with detailed information; notify QC Director, PC Manager and SVP of QA.
  • Ensure that bag/can sampling is conducted on Aseptic Manufacturing Lines, Can / Gallon Manufacturing Lines for microbiology, Analytical Quality Control (ACQ) group, co-packers and any special projects.
  • Review and provide guidance, with the Process Control Director, to the AQC area with regard to quality issues involving Can / Gallonproducts and Aseptic Manufacturing Line products.
  • Monitor adherence to GMP in the production areas, and identify repeat offenders to production supervisors, PC Director and SVP of QA
  • Ensure that products are labeled, packed, and palletized per all specification.
  • With guidance from Process Control Manager, ensure that all PC documentation is filed and categorized correctly.
  • With PC Manager, provide guidance to Maintenance Department on recurring equipment problems, and help identify methods of resolution.
  • Managerial and other duties as prescribed by Director of Manufacturing and SVP of QA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint,
  • A proven track record of exceptional organizational, planning and overall time management skills in addition to exceptional verbal and written communication,
  • A comprehensive understanding of the core competencies of Lyons? manufacturing capabilities and propriety product development.

Education and/or Experience :

  • A minimum of a Bachelor?s degree from an accredited university, preferably in Food Science
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in the food service industry
  • A comprehensive understanding of the core competencies of manufacturing capabilities and propriety product development.
  • A proven track record of exceptional organizational, planning and overall time management skills in addition to exceptional verbal and written communication.
