Software and Quality Assurance Engineer II

CANDIDATE DESCRIPTION

Western Governors University is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer II with strong automation experience. Demonstrate competencies while performing a variety of routine or standardized tasks of limited scope. Work plans and schedules are typically pre-defined or established in collaboration with supervisor / manager Scope of work may require cross-functional coordination and/or collaboration.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The QA engineers at WGU work on dedicated product teams directly with developers, scrum masters, product owners and UX designers to give students and student mentors an excellent education experience. Developing manual and automation test plans, test cases and following defect lifecycle is an essential part of that effort. Being able to analyze failures in an objective, open-minded way, and to be collaborative in solving day-to-day challenges is imperative to this role.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, debug, and maintains test scripts, test cases and automation framework using test automation tools
  • Develop automation framework guidelines and coding standards and drive consistent automated testing practices across delivery teams
  • Troubleshoot test automation code and/or framework issues to identify case and correct
  • Report defects for code errors discovered during automated test runs
  • Execute & develop test cases both in an automated fashion as well as manually
  • Evaluate tools/technologies to continue enhancing the automation framework
  • Work as a member of cross-functional scrum teams to ensure product quality
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Software Development or Test Automation experience
  • Familiarity with C# or Java
  • Unit test framework experience (Nunit, MStest)
  • Experience with Agile software development methodology (SCRUM)
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies i.e. (i.e. Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming)
  • Experience with the Agile development process, TDD and Continuous Integration(CI) & Continuous Deployment (CD) process
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment with business and technical resources
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of organization
  • Working knowledge with Selenium or other automation tools
  • Possess AWS foundation level certificate (preferred)
  • Understanding with Bamboo, CLI, BASH or PowerShell
  • Familiarity with Banner
  • Knowledge with API testing and test tools
  • Working knowledge with Salesforce

Essential Skills:

  • Testing experience in a multi-tiered based architecture
  • Coding and software engineering experience
  • Must possess proficient oral and written communication skills
