The Quality Assurance Engineer supports new product/process development and manufacturing through the application of quality engineering techniques, (APQP, problem solving, corrective action, and PFMEA). The purpose of this position is to ensure that all in-process and completed work meets or exceeds all GRS, customer, and relevant regulatory requirements.

This person may be responsible for managing multiple projects and tasks throughout product development, product launch, and manufacturing. This individual may also act as facility Quality Manager working directly with the management team to analyze and establish excellence in our shop operating systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily:
*Follow all EHS rules and guidelines.
*Maintain facility SOP's and work instructions; plus oversee overall document control.
*Support the GRS quality management system in accordance with facility and AAR guidelines.
*Use statistical methods to develop and improve GRS products and processes.
*Define Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with internal and external customers and suppliers.
*Champion Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
*Participate in the review and analysis of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
*Maintain and continuously strive to improve the facility Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
*Perform basic work direction of other QA inspectors on a daily basis or as assigned.
*Conduct in-process inspections, required internal audits, and accurately report on findings.
*Monitor and regulate the assignment and use of calibrated measuring and testing equipment.
*Perform on-site customer training as needed and/or complete on-site approvals for new car builders.
*Provide or assist with quality related data entry, statistical gathering, and training of work force crew.
*Act as liaison to GRS customers regarding quality related technical issues or corrective actions.
*Occasional after-hours and weekend work required with some travel likely..

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned including special processes.

Knowledge and Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following knowledge, characteristics, skills, and/or abilities:

*Must be highly motivated; persistent / dedicated

*Ability to follow oral and written instructions including basic blue prints and schematics.
*Ability to use measuring devices such as a micrometer, caliper, and tape measure.

*Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
*Knowledge of Desktop Microsoft applications including: MS Windows, Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
*Ability to complete additional training or education as needed for this position.

 Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following education and experience:
*Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other technical related fields will be considered.
*3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance preferred.
*Ability to interpret engineering models and prints.
*Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt or ASQ-CQE preferred.
*Excellent oral and written communication skills.
*Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and implement long term solutions.
*Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
*Ability to work as a team player to optimize and standardize processes.
