Job Description

Accountable for ensuring effective product quality assurance and control.

  • Takes leadership role in the assurance of safe laboratory operations. Assist with leading weekly safety communications.
  • Participates in all Customer, Quality, PSM or EHSS audits.
  • Establishes laboratory goals and performance expectations for lab personnel.
  • Responsible for providing training to QC technicians, including: developing & maintaining SOP’s & test procedures, updating SOP’s and tests in DMS/DCO, creating/maintaining log sheets in EQUILL database
  • Takes responsibility for the production, maintenance and accuracy of customer documentation including Specifications, AMLs and COAs.
  • Prepares work assignments to provide an orderly flow of data, keeping sample backlogs & turnaround times to a minimum.
  • Resolves quality issues including instrument reliability, accuracy, precision, turnaround time, capability and value.
  • Works with the Quality Manager to develop new or improved analytical methods or new methodologies. 
  • Assists users of analytical data (Management, technicians and production) with the interpretation of the analytical results.
  • Monitors standards in Lab Data System - Oasis
  • Participates in inter and intra laboratory correlation studies to validate both the precision and accuracy of the analytical data generated.
  • Assist root cause analysis for customer complaints & analytical concerns: develops action plans to prevent reoccurrence
  • Participates in analytical Six Sigma quality activities and programs for the site
  • Executes EHS&S responsibilities, including: create/maintain LOTO database, update area PPE charts, update line / tank / analytical equipment & supply labeling, manages Industrial Hygiene Qualitative Assessments, Near Miss and Hazard Reporting. 
  • Conducts Management of Change (MOCs): create & close in SharePoint, create/maintain SharePoint groups, conducts PSSR’s, issues Aspire memos.
  • Takes primary responsibility for maintenance and improvement of the QMS including ISO 9001 and Internal Audit Program.
  • Maintains lab supplies, chemicals, equipment for the lab.
  • Enters work orders, requisitions, PO’s, work cycle approvals.
  • Coordinate with vendors to schedule PM and repairs.
  • Qualifies new vendors. 
  • Manages lab techs schedule and payroll approval.
  • Ensure safe preparation and proper delivery of customers’ samples. 
  • Oversees lab tech FEDEX shipping, Hazmat Shipping, and International shipping. 

Required Experience

  • BS Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant lab experience in petro-chemical plant
  • Experience in ISO 9001 (Lead Auditor certification or ASQ certification preferred)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • DOT Hazardous Material Certification preferred
