Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Job Description:

This Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer will play a key role in managing our manufacturing process with our global CM locations. The Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer monitors and tests the quality of Synopsys products during all product life cycle phases typically beginning with product development to volume production. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with standards, identifying issues, recommending solutions, and creating quality documentation. The Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer works with contract manufacturers (CM’s) and component suppliers to resolve quality problems through a root cause analysis methodology (8D). The methodologies include statistical data analysis to evaluate quality problems and implement corrective actions. The Sr. Quality Engineer also partners with the Manufacturing Operations Team, CMs, and with Component Suppliers to do PFMEA analysis, process improvements and Lean Manufacturing Assessments. Also responsible for conducting supplier surveys and audits. Additional activities will include the creation and management of KPI’s and other metrics which will need to be reported on a regular basis. This individual will need to work cross-functionally with other team members, will need to manage changes in priorities and execute plans in a high-tech, highly energized, team-oriented environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; and making recommendations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies.
  • Ensures products adhere to company and industry quality standards.
  • Assist CM production assembly with prototype builds from Surface Mount, wave, post solder ops, chassis assembly and QC.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, (Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering) or Mathematics/Statistics. Or equivalent experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 5+ years of related experience.
  • ASQ Certification
  • Experience with the manufacture of complex electronics products (large electronic systems).
  • Knowledge of product and industrial standards such as IPC610.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and TQM.
  • Ability to drive and resolve complex problems collaborating and working with manufacturing operations and product engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $97,000-$169,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses. The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of job-related factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
