Role responsibilities

R1      Create test pan and execute testing that ensures that software is built against requirements

R2      Manage, track defects (report, diagnose, hold accountable, provide transparency, prioritize, verify)

R3      Enhance engineering productivity (improve efficiency, give feedback, develop tooling, automate)

R4      Maintain a synthesis of state of quality of the features & builds

R5      Extend coverage of automation using existing patterns and practices

R6      Document & maintain test artifacts

Holistic Description of Person Needed for Role

QAEs are individuals who can be handed resources and a project at the goal level and be expected to create, execute, and oversee a test plan that will deliver high quality and consistent results. He/she requires minimal oversight for planning and execution work. They can understand our application architecture and use cases and own test planning and execution for a feature or system. They operate as partners to developers in improving software quality through providing early feedback, extending existing automation frameworks, and developing a quality mindset in others. Additionally, they proactively provide transparency into progress and risks to stakeholders in the SDLC. Because we operate in an agile environment, QAEs must be technical enough to interact with our developers and understand white board sessions.
