Oversee the search and selection of appropriate suppliers. Facilitate the involvement and active participation of Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Branch, and Service personnel in the source selection/deselection and onsite evaluation processes. Ensure procedures are followed, forms and reports are completed, and appropriate approval is obtained for all suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and take appropriate action to eradicate poor performing suppliers. Conduct regular supplier risk reviews and take action to mitigate potential risks. Provide periodic updates to management.
Participate in the development and oversee the implementation of global sourcing strategies, competitive quoting, cost analysis, negotiating, and contracting for purchased parts, while supporting remote factory needs. Commodity strategies shall include at a minimum; suppliers targeted for development and elimination, effects on remote factories, exit plans, qualification plans, risk analysis of each supplier, actions and assurances of continuity of supply, supply base capability analysis, logistics plan, competitive advantages, short term actions and long term goals, and pricing goals.
Oversee supplier development and part qualification planning and activities. This may include qualification of supplier facilities, special processes and the detailed qualification of individual parts and assemblies through utilization of the Supplier Quality Manual, Part Qualification Process, Supplier Quality System Survey and other tools and procedures as appropriate.
Supervise Purchasing and facilitate the communication and collaboration with purchasing personnel at all global locations. Utilize best practices. Conduct succession and retention planning. Ensure compliance with strategies and cost savings targets and other performance goals. Utilize metrics for suppliers and departmental performance.
Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Responsible for coaching, motivating, and developing direct and indirect reports to be successfully and improve performance. Work with the Talent Development Specialists to ensure all direct and indirect reports are being educated and participating/progressing.
Attend department, staff, Manufacturing, and management meetings as appropriate. Initiate and lead meetings to discuss and update senior management on spend management and sourcing activities or Purchasing activities in general. Fill in for other Managers as needed. Provide assistance to other operational functions as requested.
