POSITION SUMMARY

The Purchase Clearing Manager -- Bond is responsible for managing a team of Bond Loan Delivery Analyst and Bond Purchase Clearing analysts and driving the team to insure timely delivery and clearance of loan level suspense items as designated by external HFA/Bond agencies and investors and insure all required documentation to make the loan salable is provided as required. Additionally, this person will act as liaison between Caliber and its internal partners and HFA/Bond Agencies including maintenance of feedback loop to insure quality loan production output.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the productivity, capacity management, budgetary performance, and operational efficiency of Bond Loan Delivery/Purchase Clearing Staff

  • Manages/directs the day-to-day activities of all operations resources within Bond Loan Delivery/Purchase Clearing Department
  • Manages daily review of HFA/Investor pipelines to ensure all loans are moving through the process timely and all missing documents and requirements are provided to the HFA/Investors timely
  • Monitors performance and serves as a coach and mentor to the team by providing feedback to aid in the

    development of new skills and refinement of existing skills

  • Set expectations for turn times and productivity at an individual and department level

  • Ensures all requirements from Risk, Legal, Compliance and HR have been incorporated into staffing model

  • Hires, trains and counsels' operational resources

  • Performs internal quality control checks for all analyst to ensure quality of work

  • Subject matter expert in all HFA/Investor overlays, required guidelines and mortgage loan documents

  • Drives/approves technology enhancements as it relates to the end-to-end file flow

  • Establishes/monitors manual processes when applicable
  • Utilizes strong mortgage background to review escalated files and provide guidance on difficult transactions.
  • Communicates internally and externally regarding decisions made on escalated loan level scenarios as necessary
  • Provides recommendations to risk department for changes in underwriter credit authority
  • Collaborates with Risk Management to determine training opportunities for operations team
  • Manages relationships with between Bond Loan Delivery/Purchase Clearing and all internal and external customers
  • Determine alternative solutions for non-curable suspensions
  • Reviews and understands HFA/Investor guidelines and ensures team is trained regarding solutions, clarifications and

    process changes

  • Creates and develops new training manuals and job aids for Bond Loan Delivery and Purchase Clearing Teams

  • Assist with other tasks as required

    REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, SKILLS, & KNOWLEDGE)

  • Extensive knowledge of HFA/Bond loan documents, HFA/Bond delivery requirements and policies and guidelines

  • 7+ years mortgage banking experience, preferably with Bond and HFA background

  • 5+ years of managerial experience with demonstrated management/leadership ability

  • Diverse experience in all areas of mortgage operations including: processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and post-

    closing

  • Strong underwriting background and recent experience managing frontline staff.

  • Subject matter expert with loan package documents for both credit and closing

  • Ability to effectively communicate with third parties and borrowers

  • Ability to effectively present information/respond to questions from managers, clients and customers

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with

    people at varying levels of the organization

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment

  • Ability to work autonomously under minimal supervision

  • Excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills and confident in technology-oriented solutions.

  • Excellent conflict management skills

  • College Degree Preferred
