About the Hospital

As part of the Munson Healthcare system, Kalkaska Memorial Health Center (KMHC), is a Critical Access Hospital offering quality care for primary and urgent medical needs. Cardiology, laboratory, radiology, and rehabilitation services at KMHC are networked with Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, ensuring prompt, convenient diagnosis and treatment. KMHC is frequently recognized for its high level of care. Efforts to promote patient safety and enhance care resulted in triple recognition from the Michigan Center for Rural Health. The hospital was recognized for outstanding performance in patient safety, excellence in Emergency Department transfer performance, and quality improvement in outpatient clinical performance. An Outpatient Services Building provides expanded space for radiology, new surgical suites for colonoscopies and cataract surgery, and a new Cardiac Rehabilitation area. A dialysis center, a beautiful assisted living center, and a 104-bed long-term care facility offer convenience and continuity of care for residents. Kalkaska Memorial Health Center is owned by Kalkaska County's 12 townships and has served area residents and visitors since 1953. Munson Healthcare is a network of nine hospitals that serves 30 counties in northern Michigan. The system of nationally recognized hospitals includes a major tertiary referral medical center and Level II Trauma Center. Munson Healthcare’s hospitals have advanced and sophisticated technology, and employ more than 1,000 physicians representing 76 specialties.
