The County of San Mateo Health System's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Division is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage & Family Therapist – Same Day Assistance/Primary Care Interface – Spanish Speaking Required. Same Day Assistance (SDA) is a county wide service provided by Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) to San Mateo County residents seeking behavioral health services. A San Mateo County resident will meet with a clinician to determine needs and will then be linked to appropriate services. This clinician will work collaboratively with the primary care clinic as a member of a multidisciplinary team which includes primary care physicians, psychiatrists, therapists and co-occurring case managers and peer workers.
The current vacancy is with the BHRS Coastside Clinic, located in Half Moon Bay, CA, but may travel to other locations within County of San Mateo to perform duties of the job (meetings, trainings or community events). The position is a regular full-time, 40-hour per week; and requires fluency in both English and Spanish. Population served represents a diverse community; and a specific focus is on providing services that meet cultural and language needs of the youth and families being served in a rural community, from Half Moon Bay to Pescadero. This community also has a large immigrant and migrant seasonal farmworker population.
Psychiatric Social Workers/Marriage and Family Therapists on the SDA-Interface, under general supervision, provide specialized psychiatric casework counseling and brief therapy services to either children and adolescents or mild to moderate mentally ill adults; provide individual and group therapeutic counseling and case management services to clients having basic and/or severe emotional, family, and/or social adjustment problems, refer clients to the Private Provider Network and community agencies; link clients identified as severely mentally ill to BHRS regional clinics; and if qualified may supervise graduate interns.
The primary duties will include triage, mental health assessments; case management; crisis management; brief treatment (individual, family and leading groups for adults, youths and parents); and collaborating with primary care providers and outside agencies and/or schools. Clinician will also perform "Officer of the Day" and "Same Day Assistance" duties.
