We have an outstanding opportunity for a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at University of Washington Medical Center. The Psych CNS:

  • Provides psychiatric support services to patients/families and nursing staff.
  • Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients and families experiencing difficulty coping with the stress of illness.
  • Collaborates with the attending MD, PCP, and nursing staff to insure coordination and continuity of care.
  • Attends appropriate clinical meetings to serve as a resource for staff and providers.
  • Provides patient and/or family with mental health education, counseling and referrals to other health professionals.
  • Participates as a key member of the interdisciplinary team through the development of collaborative and innovative practices and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
  • Evaluates quality outcomes for UWMC through participation in the development of quality indicators including compliance with restraint standards and practice.

Position is 100%, days. Requires WA RN license. Master’s degree plus 4-5 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients/families experiencing difficulty coping with illness and hospitalization. Experience in needs assessments, developing and providing formal and informal staff education, and program evaluation desired.
