Job Description Project Team Leader (Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Troy, MI) In the Interior, Body & Security Business Unit, plan, lead and monitor progress of technical and manufacturing improvement programs through weekly multicultural conference calls by country and region: China (APAC), France (EMEA), and Mexico (NA), to meet customer milestones for prototypes and mass production during product life cycle. Act on time for technical and commercial problem resolution issues to prevent manufacturing disruptions internally (Continental regional facilities) and externally (regional customer facilities). Prepare project quotations for upper manager review and approvals. Obtain customer purchase orders, and negotiate design changes for improved efficiency for customer approvals. Recommend cost savings strategies and obtain project tooling reimbursement and initiate capital requests to fund projects. Witness international production demonstration runs at Continental international facilities for customer capacity compliance, and take actions if they deviate from capacity contract requirements. Participate and take action on Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) activities to ensure Continental project complies with customer product quantity, quality, system, and on-time delivery of project. Coordinate Global Test Equipment updates to be used at Customer Global Facilities to minimize or eliminate their zero (0) kilometers claims. Review and present appropriate actions for Global Warranty Reduction Cost. Present Continental Project Status efficiency initiatives in the Ford Staff meetings in a professional and technical manner required by the customer staff level. Must work on weekends when needed, e. g.: customer stop shipment issues and perform alignment with Team in conference calls, covering China in night phone calls.
Job Requirements Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering and Chemical Engineering or related or equivalent. Requires five (5) years progressively responsible OEM and Tier automotive industry experience to include five (5) years: working with PPAP and Advanced Quality activities including Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, Process Capability, LPA, GD&T, GRR, Capacity Planning and MSA; Problem Solving based on Shainin method, Kepner-Tregoe (K&T) and Red X; APQP approval processes; leading projects in the automotive industry; two (2) years: Quality Management experience in the automotive industry; Supplier Quality experience in the automotive industry; reviewing customer OEM Manufacturing Assembly Processes; OEM customer requirements based on Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG); quality auditing for OEM (TS16949 or similar) and German auto-industry (VDA 6.3). Requires 15% US travel to regularly visit the customer for meeting at Ford main building and 10% international to bring the team together and inform team together, join customer meetings.
