Pearson offers an exciting Project Manager/Scrum Master position within our Learning Services Technology (LST) team. In this role you will serve as a project management lead for the development of shared services that are integrated and leveraged across platforms, as well as work to support the platforms and applications. Your primary responsibility is the overall project success and to provide leadership in the delivery of Pearson products and services to our customers.

What you will be doing as your key responsibilities…

  • Directly manage projects and lead onshore and offshore scrum teams in the delivery of software iterations

  • Manage fixed-bid delivery projects with internal and external project team members

  • Development of integrated project plans in accordance with roadmaps, including collaboration with the Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, and other key team members in development of plans (resource planning, release planning, timeline & milestone development, task assignments)

  • Management of dependencies across teams in the development and implementation of shared services

  • Develop status reports and dashboards, including metrics-informed analysis

  • Work across teams/disciplines to ensure release readiness and quality deployments

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Demonstrate competency in the following areas:

  • Integration Management - Develop Project Management Plans, execute all phases of the project,

  • implement project change control

  • Scope Management - Work with all stakeholders defining detailed project requirements, contract obligations and deliverables. Manage expectations and requested changes and impact on project

  • Schedule Management - Develop and monitor project schedules using specific scheduling software

  • Cost Management - Develop and monitor the project budget

  • Quality Management - Utilize the standards and processes in all phases of the project, develop and analyze metrics providing improvement plans, conduct project reviews

  • Human Resource Management - Ensure team members understand project requirements and assigned responsibilities; provide development, guidance, support to team

  • Communication Management - Establish and maintain the project central repository and provide access to shared project files routinely communicating project status to stakeholders

  • Risk Management – Develop, maintain, and monitor risk management plan

  • Procurement Management - Document material forecasts, procurement, and processing requirements; manage suppliers and subcontractors


What we are looking for…

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience

  • 4 years of project management related experience with solid knowledge and experience of Agile methodologies; experience in an Agile onshore-offshore hybrid model

  • Proven project management abilities to create project plans, prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Experience executing projects in an integrated, shared services-oriented environment and architecture

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence for scrum team management

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using MS Office, MS Project, Google Docs

  • Exceptional attention to details managing projects in a demanding and changing environment

  • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level

  • Strong planning, organizational and leadership skills with remarkable verbal and written communication abilities
