Job DescriptionTRC Advanced Energy (TRC), a nationally known energy consultancy, is seeking a technical project manager for residential energy programs in California. This position is responsible for managing elements of residential code readiness and incentive programs with a building science focus. TRC seeks a confident leader with field experience, relationship-building, sales and business acumen skills to grow with our company. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the residential energy efficiency and a drive to accelerate the adoption of zero net energy (ZNE) and connected smart dwellings. Existing relationships with single- and multifamily builders and developers is a plus. The position is ideally located in California at TRC's Fresno, office. Ranch Cordova CA also a potential suitable location.


¨ Manage developer, builder, and contractor relationships

¨ Recruit building projects into program and manage documentation

¨ Provide design and technical assistance and recommend energy efficiency measures

¨ Provide technical support with the energy efficiency work scope implementation

¨ Provide technical guidance and regular field support, addressing on-site priorities

¨ Facilitate program design charrettes and meetings with project teams

¨ Support program manager in contract, budget, timeline and deliverable management

¨ Promote energy programs to owners, developers, raters, contractors, and product manufacturers

¨ Conduct audits and inspections to verify that the energy efficiency measures are to program quality standards

¨ Communicate and coordinate with manufacturers of advanced products for home energy use reductions

¨ Develop, train, and support trade ally networks

¨ Train and mentor junior staff in building science, energy auditing, and in-field quality assurance

¨ Establish and maintain high standards of work, communication, and deliverables


¨ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

¨ Four+ years of experience in construction, energy consulting, HERS rating, or related field

¨ Knowledge of building science, CA energy codes, and energy modeling

¨ Bi-lingual fluency, a strong preference (Spanish, English)

¨ An understanding of ZNE and smart home technologies and concepts such as advanced envelopes, home energy management systems, battery storage, demand response, behavioral energy reductions, load-shifting, decarbonization, and solar photovoltaic systems.

¨ Familiarity with residential design/construction processes, cost estimation, purchasing, and building systems

¨ Established analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

¨ Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and public speaking communication skills

¨ Strong business acumen, organization, and planning skills

¨ Excellent computer skills: proficiency in MS Office and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

¨ U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

¨ Valid driver's license in the State of California; position entails some travel, mostly within California.

¨ Multi-family and low-income experience is a plus

¨ CEA or BPI certifications are a plus

¨ Energy auditing experience is a plus

¨ Field Activities: Ability to be in the field up to 50% to meet with client, customer, stakeholders, and to perform various project duties. Majority of field work is local/regional.
