SIEMENS Corporate Technology is looking for a talented Project Manager with deep know-how and interest in Software Projects, who would like to join our Product Design, Modeling and Simulation (PSM-US) Research Group of the "Simulation and Digital Twin" Technology Field, in the Tri-state area.

We need your help experienced Project Manager (PM) to drive forward the development of Research Group.

The PM will be responsible for the planning, tracking and reporting of the software projects they will be managing. The focus of the role will be on enabling the effective coordination of activities leading to the successful delivery of projects on time and to budget. The PM will liaise closely with the Head of the Research Group other key roles in the organization (e.g. project and program managers, technical experts, supporting functions, etc.) to assist in ensuring the project meets the needs of the business.

PSM-US Mission

We want to teach machines to model, simulate and optimize parts, products and systems better than ever before and become perfect companions for engineers in need to accelerate by 1000x their workflows. The candidates will be responsible for:

  • Drive the creation of the Project Management Plan and assist with ensuring that new products or services are delivered according to the plan
  • Draft the development schedule and proactively monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
  • Enable effective implementation of the company quality and safety management systems

  • Managing the project's budget, monitoring and reporting expenditures and costs as required during the project lifecycle

  • Undertake effective resource planning, including skills analysis, to support the project schedule
  • Identify and monitor external aspects impacting the project, and report/escalate issues accordingly

  • Undertake effective Risk Management and reporting, leading stakeholder review of risks and driving the generation of effective mitigation plans
  • Report progress of the project at regular intervals to the R&D Management team
  • Communicate complex ideas and testing results effectively, both orally and in writing, and provide recommendations and support to internal engineering teams through accurate and effective written documentation
  • Seeking advocacy from Siemens business units on potential use cases, while educating and transferring technologies back to Siemens businesses for product implementations.
  • Collaborating with others, both within and outside Siemens, to develop successful research proposals for external funding that align with Siemens strategic direction.

Required qualifications

  • BSc or higher in Computational Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent, with 10+ years of related experience, with a well-established track record.

  • Experience of managing projects; ideally those involving Software / Electronic development
  • General Project management experience

  • Experience with managing both internal and external customers
  • Maintain project schedule and generate reports

  • Managing risk and reporting issues to management

  • Present project reports to the management
  • Experience of Microsoft Project

  • Knowledge of office tools like Excel for any metric/ KPI analysis

  • Knowledge and experience of agile methods in software development

  • Background knowledge of mechanical engineering / electronics

  • Certified by a professional project management body such as APMP or PMI or internal Siemens Project Management qualification is preferred.

  • Experience in safety critical development
  • Good communication and organization skills, with a logical approach to problem solving, good time management and task prioritization skills, with motivation to learn and use new technologies, work under uncertainty at fast pace, and ability to multitask and make key contributions to several projects
