Job Description

The Project Manager works in design, modification, analysis, equipment selection, evaluation, planning, performance testing and R & D. Performs engineering level work of considerable difficulty. Manages the process of high-tech medical equipment selection, acquisition and service management. Has the capability to design and modify medical devices, and to do analysis of devices and systems. Manages medical equipment within the patient care setting. Performs a broad range of professional level tasks. Can do extensive training and in-service education. Responsible for maintenance of departmental computer systems, as well as, computer systems in customer accounts.

Provides clinical engineering support in the development and implementation of Clinical Data Management systems throughout the Hospital. Reports to Director all problems and concerns related to procedures performed by Biomedical Engineering staff and recommend corrective action. Supports improvements in parts database system so that it is more useful to technicians on a day-to-day basis. Designs and implements test apparatus needed to facilitate technical work assignments. Evaluates biomedical equipment for pre-purchase decision making. Consults on design of new patient care facilities in matters related to biomedical equipment. Some of the duties include:

  • Hazard evaluation and establishment of hazard zones.
  • Control measures and compliance issues.
  • Approval of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintenance and service procedures.
  • Approval of equipment and installations.
  • Safety training for laser personnel.
  • Recommendations and approvals of personal
  • protective equipment.


This is a full time position covering different sites within NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise, and primary location can be flexible.

Required Criteria

  • Three to five years of occupationally-specific training beyond high school or a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-8 years of experience


Preferred Criteria

  • Previous Project Management Experience
  • Background in Biomedical Technology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous Experience in Healthcare

Salary Range:

$104,000-$154,500/Annual
