Job Description Summary

The Project Manager provides project management and delivery of critical, high impact technology and business initiatives. This role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of assigned projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. The Senior IT Project Manager will utilize the HomeStreet Project Management Methodology in the creation of full scale project plans for execution of project goals and strategies. Senior IT Project Manager will manage project scope and will undertake strategy creation for contingency planning and risk mitigation to ensure projects remain on track. The Senior IT Project Manager constantly monitors and reports project progress to project stakeholders. Multiple project dimensions will be reported including project timelines, problems and resolutions, change management, interventions needed to achieve desired outputs, and post production evaluation of results and lessons learned.

Please Note: Though the role is posted for Seattle (Home Office), the selected hire may also work out of our Lynnwood and Federal Way locations with the understanding that travel to our Home Office will be based on projects and business needs.

Job Details

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages routine to highly complex information technology and business projects by assembling cross-functional teams to identify and successfully complete all project activities. Cross functional teams may include technology, operations, compliance, marketing, finance, etc. Coordinates projects with vendors and other bank departments/affiliates, manages within approved project budget and schedule.

May serve as program manager for interrelated initiatives.

May serve as project consultant to various bank departments/affiliates.

Develop business cases, proposals (including alternative approaches), requirements, Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), contract negotiations, task plans, test plans, transition and support plans.

May serve as vendor manager for existing relationships and perform such functions as contract negotiations, and vendor performance.

Provide assistance to executive/senior management in the development, organization and execution of strategic planning.

Creates and maintains the full spectrum of project documentation as defined by the HomeStreet Project Management Methodology.

Leads complex infrastructure or software implementation projects.

Provide input to employee evaluations, as requested by management. May provide performance direction and coaching to employees assigned to support projects.

Participates in the continual development of HomeStreet’s Project Management Methodology.

Maintain a current knowledge of information technology and its application to the finance industry.

Assume other duties/projects as they arise.

Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. degree required, Information Science and Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred. Degree in business, economics, accounting, finance, mathematics, engineering, or other related field is sufficient.   Significant senior level project management work experience may substitute for a degree.

Highly analytical with demonstrated success in creative problem solving. Must have advanced skills in program management, systems analysis and project management, and strategic planning.

Minimum of 10 years work experience with 5-10 years specific experience as a program manager, systems analyst, or project manager. Experience in developing or leading technology projects is required. Experience in bank services and the application of technology in this environment is a plus.

Proven ability to initiate and facilitate change, whether indicated by corporate needs, market or regulatory requirements. Ability to provide leadership during periods of uncertainty, ambiguity, and dramatic change.

Excellent communication skills. Comfortable and effective in speaking to senior executives and board members.

Ability to build effective teams and create an environment of collaboration and commitment. Able to work as part of a team as well as independently - and with people of diverse backgrounds.

Possess good judgment, ability to accept responsibility and handle highly confidential information.

A self-starter with the ability to make decisions, work independently, apply creative solutions, and set and handle multiple and competing priorities.

Proficient with Microsoft Windows and a variety of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Visio, and Project.

Familiarity with a wide variety of project management and business analysis tools.

Project Management Professional certified

Banking/Lending Experience highly preferred
