Responsibilities

Operational:

  • Create and update detailed project plans that outline specific tasks that need to be accomplished to ensure successfully deployed initiatives. Assign tasks and manage their progress to completion, documenting significant variations from originally estimated costs.
  • Follow established project methodology when creating project plans and implementing solutions. Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel. Manage the successful release of software throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership and support by working with project sponsors and workgroups to analyze information, document critical processes, and identify improvement opportunities. Project Managerworks with various departments in the creation and approval of Statements of Work and other required documents.
  • Identify areas of risk, escalate as appropriate, developing risk mitigation strategies and implement mitigation actions for the risks identified. Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report (lessons learned) in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Partner with business customers, 3rd party vendors (participate in RFI/RFP process, vendor selection) and Patterson staff to develop discipline and corrective actions plans for issues that arise during projects.

Communication:

  • Effectively communicates the progress of project activities to appropriate personnel to insure their awareness of the activities, the degree of resource investment, and to assure that the project / activities continue to meet operation goals.
  • Communicate clearly on the factual status of project progress, issues, timelines and implementation metrics.
  • Identify areas of risk, escalate as appropriate, developing risk mitigation strategies and implement mitigation actions for the risks identified. Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report (lessons learned) in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Recommends process improvements to processes that result in more efficient, cost saving procedures for future projects

Budget:

Budget for projects by leading and gathering cost estimates from internal and external vendors for software, hardware and labor required to implement each project.

Customer Engagement: The Project Manager II builds rapport with the customer and understands and represents their needs when making business decisions and communicating internally.  They guide customers to the best solutions.

Decision Making: This person makes quality decisions in a timely manner based on current information/data and experience.  They communicate decisions quickly and effectively to internal and external parties.

Action Orientation:  The Project Manager II takes initiative and action with a drive to achieve and be successful.  They seek out challenging situations and encourage others with positive and energetic support and enthusiasm.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or area of functional responsibility preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience, as well as specific experience dealing with customer service.
  • 5 years of Project Managementexperience. Experience using project management tools and methodologies, and a proven ability to develop successful collaborative working relationships with a variety of industries.
  • PMP Certification
  • Ability to effectively communicate with business leaders and collaborate with cross-department representatives.
  • Ability to manage projects with International components.
  • Proven success managing large projects (12-18 months in duration) with multiple cross-department ties (IT and business).
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects, conflicting priorities and schedules simultaneously, meeting all deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage any project type, IT or non-IT based
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
