The Project Manager role is responsible for providing project management services for refinery, pipeline, and terminal projects. Working out of our Corpus Christi facilities, the incumbent will be responsible for projects that take place between Corpus Christi and San Antonio. A summary of our assets in the Corpus Christi area is:

  • Buckeye Texas Partners (located at Exit 6 off I-37)

  • 50,000 bpd condensate splitter designed to process Eagleford crude;

  • Propane-butane splitter;

  • 1 million bbls storage of refrigerated LPG (propane and butane);

  • 8 pipelines connecting to other petroleum facilities in the greater Corpus Christi area;

  • 6 truck offloading bays for crude, plus 3 bays for LPG;

  • self-contained waste water treatment plant.

  • Buckeye Texas Hub (located on the Corpus Christi Ship Channel)

  • 5 docks, 3 of which can service ocean-going vessels;

  • 1.5 million bbls of crude storage;

  • storage for naphtha;

  • 12 truck offloading stations for crude and naphtha;

  • truck offloading of pressurized butane, and on-site storage of butane;

  • rail access.

  • Buckeye Field Services

  • truck offloading facilities in George West, Tilden and Cotulla, Texas.

All of our facilities operate on a 24/7 basis, so occasional support of night time and weekend projects will be required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Project Initiating and Planning. Completing development of project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, work plans, and resource requirements as part of the initiation and planning phases of the project life cycle.

  • Project Execution. Managing the execution (project design, engineering, purchasing/contracting, construction, startup and commissioning, and closing) of projects, including the development and updating of reports regarding Project Status and Cost Forecasting.

  • Project Approvals. Evaluating and obtaining approval of changes to project scopes of work, budgets, and/or schedules and completing all required documentation of changes

  • Project Completion. Ensuring development of Construction and Operational Punch Lists and completion of all outstanding items and ensure completion of project documentation such as “as-built” drawings, operating manuals, PM’s, equipment tagging, device settings, and Completion Certificates.

  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical) preferred

  • Buckeye will consider a candidate who lacks a Bachelor’s degree if they have demonstrated 10+ years of experience managing capital construction projects in the petroleum refining industry.

  • 3 plus years managing refinery, pipeline and/or terminal projects.

  • Experience in a petroleum transfer and shipping environment is a plus.

Certificates & Licenses:

  • EIT Certification and intentions to obtain or have obtained a PE license is desirable.

  • PM Certification from Project Management Institute is desirable

  • Professional Engineer (“P.E.”) license is a plus

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:

  • Experience and demonstrated aptitude in most phases of engineering, construction, and operations of refinery, pipeline, and terminal facilities.

  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Project.

  • All of our facilities operate on a 24/7 basis, so occasional support of night time and weekend projects will be required.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • A strong commitment to safety is expected.

  • Working in hazardous locations, including climbing tanks, and working in and around excavations will be required for a total of approximately 50% of the time.
