Job Description

 

The primary focus of the duties of the Project Manager is to manage the successful delivery of IT projects, including planning, design, development, implementation, training, and transition to post-production support.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

 

The primary focus of the duties of the Project Manager is to manage the successful delivery of IT projects, including planning, design, development, implementation, training, and transition to post-production support.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

  1. Responsible for the overall ownership and management of projects to ensure they are completed according to the timelines and budgets.
  2. Lead project initiatives and ensure they are adhering to the PMO processes and methodologies.
  3. Create and maintain project artifacts that are well-documented, organized, and consistent with the PMO standards.
  4. Prepare and maintain the project plans, system and functional requirements, specifications, and financial constraints of the projects.
  5. Develop and monitor a project schedule for each project by evaluating an appropriate timeline, milestones, tasks, resources, and dependencies.
  6. Control and track project performance, resource allocations, budget adherence, and product quality by frequently evaluating project and team progress and conducting regular status meetings.
  7. Identify any key risks/issues within the projects and ensure they are appropriately communicated, managed, and mitigated as needed to keep the projects on track.
  8. Escalate issues to management as necessary.
  9. Manage the relationships with customers and vendors.
  10. Responsible for the complete implementation of the projects and provide a single point of contact to all stakeholders.

 

Required Experience

 

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in Computer Science, Business Management, or related courses is required.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of technical project management experience required
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience with project management processes and methodologies
  • Experience managing multiple projects in a matrixed environment
  • Strong project financial management skills, including tracking and managing to project budgets and experience withcapital and operating budgets and expenses
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of MS Project
  • Familiarity with PPM tools, including Innotas
  • Solid working knowledge of SharePoint is preferred

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong problem solving, organization, and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of all tasks in a project
  • Utility/Regulated industry experience preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.
