Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Project Manager will be to provide project management, engineering design leadership, and client development for roadway and provincial projects in Ontario.

Project Management: Will plan, direct and monitor all aspects of small to medium multi-discipline detailed designed projects with varying degrees of technical complexity. Is responsible to coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule. Is responsible to track and report to senior management the financial aspects of the projects, provide invoicing and progress reports to the client, and coordinate and adjust the work effort within the team to ensure that the work is completed within the budget.

Engineering design leadership: Will control the key engineering design elements of a project, independently coordinate the work of engineers throughout the entire project's development. Participates in reviews with various governing agencies for design compliance and in directing the technical staff in addressing reviews. Will be involved in the production, coordination, and management of several projects concurrently. Responsible for quality of technical deliverables including coordination/review of sub-consultants.

Client development: Will work in conjunction with the marketing team for client development and marketing pursuits with Regions and municipalities. Will assist the marketing team in the development of project proposals, schedules, and bids for Regional, and municipal projects.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Masters preferred.
  • Professional Licensure (P. Eng) in Ontario required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience including: 10+ years engineering on mid to large roadway projects; and a minimum of 5+ years of experience on detailed design projects and completion of Tender documents.
  • Minimum of 2+ years as a Project Manager in Ontario.
  • Solid knowledge and application of TAC Manual, MTO Geometrics Design Manual, OPSS and OPSD is required.
  • Project Experience working with York Region, Peel Region, Durham Region, City of Toronto or other similarly sized clients required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must understand earned value, fee development, and developing internal working budgets. Demonstrated track record of delivering projects within budget.
  • Ability to lead and work with varying teams and discipline areas. Strong project management skills required, including attention to project documentation and quality control.
  • Candidate should have excellent marketing and business development skills in addition to existing contacts/relationships in the Ontario Transportation marketplace.
  • Demonstrated communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
